You are invited to submit abstracts for oral and/or poster presentations. Please read this Call for Abstracts carefully before downloading the Abstract Submission Form, below.

Conference/Abstract Themes
This year’s Conference nurtures and celebrates courageous professionals motivated to lead and build solutions in health care. The CLPNA invites LPNs and colleagues to join us for dynamic speakers and informative sessions with a collaborative interprofessional focus at the Marriott at River Cree Resort in Edmonton, Alberta. Every nurse has the opportunity to be a leader in their own right, from within their own practice, team, and organization. Learn to become empowered to lead and make a difference each day.
Abstracts for oral and/or poster presentations are invited from a personal, team, and organizational-focus based on the following areas:
- Innovation: New ideas & Growth Potential
- Competence: Role & Scope of Practice
- Commitment: Renewal & Connection
Process
Abstracts will undergo a peer-review process, with members of the organizing committee serving on the review committee. Authors of abstracts selected for presentation will be contacted via email by Monday, February 13, 2012 and invited to provide either a poster or oral presentation at the Conference.
Abstract Format
Please use the following guide to help structure your abstract (heading are not mandatory):
Introduction / Objective
A short description of the initiative, program, or idea and what need it addresses.
Process
Include a detailed outline of how the initiative, program or idea was developed and carried out.
Conclusions
Provide a summary of the conclusions or key findings. Are there any implications for policy or practice? Next steps?
Abstract Form Submission
The abstract submission deadline has passed. The submission form is no longer available.
- Abstracts must be submitted electronically, by email, using the official submission form.
- Please use standard abbreviation. Place special or unusual abbreviations in parenthesis after the full word when it appears for the first time.
- Abstracts must not exceed 350 words (excluding the abstract heading, if used).
- An individual may submit more than one abstract. One official submission form is required for each abstract.
- There is no fee to submit an abstract.
- Edits to submitted abstracts may be made up to Monday, January 23, 2012 by resubmitting the form.
Oral Presentations at the Conference
- There are two options for oral presentations
- 30 minute presentation (includes time for Q&A)
- 60 minute presentation (includes time for Q&A)
- The conference will cover the cost of one night’s stay at the Marriott at River Cree Resort for Oral Presenters. No other travel or accommodation costs will be covered.
- Oral presenters will receive a complimentary registration for the conference.
- Awards Dinner tickets are not included in the conference registration and must be purchased separately.
Poster Presentations at the Conference
- Poster presenters must register for the conference and pay the current registration fee.
- At least one representative will be required to stand by the poster at specific times to answer questions during the Conference.
- Posters must not exceed 115 cm x 115 cm in size but may be any dimension within these constraints. Oversize posters may not be displayed. Push pins will be provided at the conference.
- The conference will not cover expenses of those presenting posters, such as expenses for developing the poster, shipping, travel, or accommodation.
Copyright Permission
By submitting an abstract to the conference, submitters authorize, upon acceptance, permission to reproduce their abstract and/or presentation material in the conference syllabus and on the conference website.
